We headed to the Belt Parkway to see if we could capture some great sunset images. We didn’t get any sunset but we got some great cloud features in the sky with circular polarizer filter.

On Saturday, July 18th, Vivian and I took part in the Worldwide Photowalk at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. It was organised by local photographer Jeff Bachner. The walk started in Cyclone Roller Coaster at 230pm and ended at Keyspan Park around 5pm. At the end we stopped by Peggy O’Neill to get a drink. Tonight I will go through my photos looking for two I could submit to the contest to win the Nikon D700.

If you enjoy taking photos of things, events like this present a really good opportunity to improve your skills, learn tips and tricks and meet some fellow photographers. Maybe shoot in some new locations or old locations from a new perspective. It’s certainly something I hope to do more regularly myself in the future.

The image was taken on my honeymoon in Hawaii about 6 months ago. The Tokina 11-16mm lens was the only lens I used on that particular walk and I was lucky to photograph some of my favorite subjects – The Sea. I love the line the rail gives to the composition to the whole picture. As you view the image, it seems to draw you into the tranquility of the scene where you just want to rest a while and enjoy the moment.

I took these shoots couple days ago on belt parkway runway. I put myself on the floor and ask vivian run over me. I forgot I am holding a ultra-wide angle lens so i get up once i saw her run pass me in the view finder. I got kicked in my head by her foot and almost knock me out.

This image was made a few weeks ago while on a shoot in Long Island. The location was the Jericho Terrace. I made this image right before the bride prepare to go to ceremony. You can see the stress all over her face. It is one of the classic photographs we make at every wedding. Canon 40D with tokina 11-16mm at 12mm, F5.6 @ 1/60 second at ISO 800.

The sun was just starting to set, and once again, I got that great balance of ambient with the glow of the illumination of the lighting. I love the composition and color of this shot. Canon 40D with Tokina 11-16mm at 16mm, F7.1 @ 1/200 second at ISO 100.

This image capture the father of the bride dancing with his daughter on her wedding day.  I have to say, I really like it. Once again, it’s a simple shot with a dramatic background.  The beautiful bride and her simplistic totally natural position in the composition certainly add to the over-all feeling of the image.  Canon 40D with Tokina 11-16mm at 11mm, F5.6 @ 1/60 second at ISO 800.
